Politics Beyond Politicians is a personal blog set up by me, Ciaran McCormick in June 2013. I was studying for a Politics degree at the time and realised that coverage of current affairs focuses too heavily on the policies of politicians. Whilst this is important, politics also influences our everyday experiences. This blog looks at how power is woven through our lives, from the food and culture we digest to the identities we defend.

Some of the issues are on the news agenda when they are posted, others are not. Many are deeply personal to my life and draw on my experiences. I hope you enjoy following the blog and look forward to sharing ideas and reading your comments.

If you would like a flavour of the articles on the site, visit the lists of most popular posts in 2013 and 2014.

New blogs are posted regularly, usually about once a week, so return regularly to discover more politics from our everyday lives.
